The liberalization of trade and enterprise in 19th-century Denmark — næringsfrihed (freedom of trade) — was one of the major institutional shifts of the period. This project studies its economic consequences using new archival sources and the full measurement stack (OccCANINE, CHAOS) to trace effects on occupational structure, income, and regional development.
The project connects directly to Copenhagen Incomes and Parish Tax, sharing data infrastructure and research questions about inequality and economic geography.
